Kawasaki Z250 launched. Priced at RM21,589.
Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd today unveiled the Z250, the brand’s latest addition to the stable at the Elite Speedway in Shah Alam.
Priced competitively at RM21,589, the Z250 will be a descendant to the Z model series, which currently consists of the Z1000, Z1000 SX, and the Z800. Powered by the same 250cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled parallel twin engine as the Ninja 250, the Z250 kicks out 30hp and 21Nm of maximum torque. The 250cc “street fighter” as what Kawasaki calls it, also shares the same platform as the Ninja 250.
While the Z250 is 35mm wider and 85mm shorter than the latter, wheelbase length remains at 1,400mm. It is also 4kg lighter than the Ninja. Besides the difference in dynamics, the Z250 is fitted with a wider handlebar, aiming to offer a more upright and comfortable riding position.
Key features include the compact headlamp cowl with mini meter visor and a multi reflector headlamp, redesigned side mirrors, new speedometer with white LED light, a redesigned radiator reserve tank, and a smaller rake angle. Despite being fitted with these new features, the Z250 costs about RM1,000 less than the Ninja 250.
Kawasaki Motors Malaysia mentioned that the Z250 will complement the Ninja 250 and not affect the latter’s sales figures, as the naked bike is aimed at attracting a new target market. The company added that it aims to sell 120 units per month, and 300 units by end of the year. It is said that the Z250 will come with a 10,000km/1 year warranty package.
